Dark interior with parking on the side & rear of building. Mostly light beers on tap, so we opted for a Guinness can ($5). Tried the 1/2 dozen raw oysters ($9.99) which were good, as well as the Tides Oysters ($13.99). I had the fish sandwich, blackened ($15.99) & my dining partner had the Catch of the Day, blackened ($23.99). Both blackened fish were good. Great service from our server, Lindsay. Most of the clientele here today were locals-coming for happy hour.
We really enjoyed our meals. Hubby had the fish tacos and I had the shrimp dinner. Plenty of food! Service was wonderful and we enjoyed the live music while eating.
We had dinner at The Tide's Oyster Co. & Grill tonight. I was a little little leery at first because of a bad experience here around twelve years ago, (when it was the Dune Cracker House). We walked in and everything looked like it did on our last visit so I was even more nervous. I have always loved this building, (and the oyster shells everywhere), but it's somewhat dark and used to be more than a little dingy. We sat out out in the front part of the building and, (while still dark), everything appeared to be much cleaner than before. We started with a half dozen of steamed oysters as an appetizer, ($8.99), and they were plump and juicy. They were served with the usual crackers, drawn butter, horseradish and seafood sauce. Definitely no complaints here. Our main courses were a fried shrimp dinner, ($19.99), and a New York Strip dinner, (on special for $17.00). The fried shrimp were delicious. The breading was crisp and the shrimp were really tender. The coleslaw was unique and had a slight sweetness, (I am thinking they used mango or some other fruit in their recipe). The fries were crinkle cut and I have never been a fan. The steak was delicious as well, (sorry, my phone didn't save the picture for some reason). I have never cared for New York Strip as it doesn't have a lot of marbling and they're normally tough. That was definitely the case here but it was seasoned well and tasted great. Oh, we had Rum Runners and they definitely pour a strong drink here...they were awesome! They were having karaoke tonight and the building filled up fast. There was a nice mix of people, (both young and old), and it appeared that many were locals. In the end I was more than pleased with everything...the food was great and the price was right, ($61.00 for adult drinks, an appetizer and two dinners). It's definitely not fancy dining by any means but I would definitely come back to enjoy some drinks, oysters and live music.
It is one of the only late night places near the beach. Party down till 2 am. Good times with good people.
Enjoyed our time here. Wings were nice and crispy and full of flavor. We had the mild and inferno sauce. Ranch on the side. Ranch here is homemade and different than other “restaurant ranch” options I’ve had in the past. Either way, it was delicious! We got to enjoy some of the live music too ! Kenly was attentive and shared some nice recommendations on wing sauces :) love this little dive! Have to appreciate the late hours and outdoor seating that can be found outback!
The Tides Oysters were beyond belief: similar to Oysters Rockefeller but better with triangular slices of toasted French bread. We had shared the bacon wrapped scallops for an appetizer, and I gave my husband one of my Oysters. He had Buffalo chicken sliders and fries. No room for dessert. No draft beer but a good selection of bottled beer for $ 3 each. Usually our beer costs three times as much. My husband said, "It was our least expensive meal..." There hours are 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. and it's close to our hotel. We're going back to Happy Hour, 4-7 p.m., with Music and Happy Hour prices. We recommend Very Highly.
I must say, I was pleasantly surprised at the food and service. We had Lexi for our server and she was awesome! Even with the 3 crazy kids we had, she took the time to answer our questions about the drinks and food. This place had a relaxed atmosphere, a full bar and a pool table. The food was really good. This had become the new favorite of St Augustine Beach.
If you want that old time beer joint/honky tonk vibe with really good food this is your spot. Dont let this place fool you, the food was outstanding and the atmosphere was more than I could hope for. The service was really good and really down to earth. If you want an hour wait for so so food just because it's the trendy spot don't go here. If you want great raw or steamed oysters and a real, no bullshit vibe, this is your new go to. Order the fried fish bites with the house sauce and thank me later.
